Olivia & Hal
October 1st, 2016
Olivia and Hal met in 8th grade and reconnected in college to become inseparable. Honoring his late grandmother, who saw the seriousness of their relationship, Hal proposed to Olivia in an emotional night, providing Olivia with a day she will never forget. A lavender farm in Indiana became the setting of a dream wedding when their family set forth to convert their barn into a beautiful wedding venue.

The Favorite Part About Planning Your Wedding?
My favorite part about planning the wedding was being able to use the family barn and make it into our dream wedding venue. It fit both of our personalities by creating the rustic elegance theme. It meant a lot to have a ceremony and venue space that was already so personal to us.
How Did Your Family Restore the Barn for Your Wedding?
The barn was the perfect place, for the rustic peaceful setting, but we knew we had to create the elegance by hanging more than 10,000 twinkle lights. The dance floor needed to be extra special. We found a beautiful crystal chandelier that had previously been hanging in the lobby of a hotel. It is 7.5′ tall and 5.5 ‘ wide. The front facade was built using beams from an upcycled 200-year-old barn. Outside we were surrounded by corn rows ready for harvest and blooming lavender as our family is creating a lavender farm. We have now officially made it into a venue for others to enjoy and share their special day as well.
The Favorite Part of Your Wedding?
Everything about the wedding was amazing, so it’s hard to decide! The lavender toss was something that we both loved though. It got everyone cheering for us and having fun after the ceremony.
Any Gush-Worthy Vendors?
Our photographer was great and personable. She went above and beyond what we imagined. Our cake and cupcakes were amazing and were completely gone by the end of the night! Our DJ was nothing less than stellar. He kept the night rolling as we danced and partied all night. The flowers were so unique and everything we could have asked for. All of our vendors are highly recommended.
Your Favorite Wedding Detail?
My favorite detail of the wedding would be the chandelier. It served as a focal point of the whole venue. It also resembles a huge milestone for the family barn and all the hard work put into it.
