Hello Lovelies, 2018 is here and I am so excited for all the big things that will be happening this year on Bridal Gush! I know all you 2018 Brides are excited too! And girl, it OK to squeal every time you realize you get married this year!
So as you put your wedding planning into full effect, check out my picks for some of the top trends you will be seeing this year!
2018 Wedding Color Trends:
Pantone, a company that is foremost experts on color, has decided that the color of the year is Ultra Violet. What does this mean…expect to see A LOT of purples. Now many people are not in love with this exact hue of purple that Pantone picked, but you will see lots of lavender replacing soft pink pastels for a light and airy feel and rich purples for a more upscale effect. And if you haven’t noticed, here at Bridal Gush, I kinda LOVE purple, so I am so excited about this trend!
Yellow is going to come streaming into the wedding season exuding vibrancy and sunshine. This year we will see more yellow mixed in with pastel color palettes for the Spring and brighter hues for the summer. Since yellow is the color of happiness, we are happy to see this trend light up the faces of brides throughout this year.
The Uprising Of Silver
As gold, copper, and rose gold took over the wedding world, silver took a back seat. Well, this year silver said no more! In 2018 we should see an uprising of the silver decor pieces whether it be in pewter chargers, chrome candlesticks, or silver sequin table clothes.
2018 Wedding Decor Trends:
Decadent Desserts Displays
Long gone are the days of the only sweet treat at a wedding is the cake. In 2018 expect to see couples giving their guest a dessert display filled with all the goodies like chocolate mouse cups, donuts, waffles, and brownies. Now, this doesn’t mean that the cake will not reign supreme, it just means that the cake is getting some accompanying friends.
The Velvet Takeover
If you have been following along with Bridal Gush for a while now, you know we called out velvet as a Fall 2017 trend. This is a trend that is going to persist well into 2018. Just as velvet is everywhere in the fashion world, it will be all throughout weddings this year. Expect to see velvet table runners, velvet ribbons on bouquets, and velvet tablecloths.
Acrylic or lucite is also another 2017 trend that we will see way more of in 2018. Acrylic is one of my favorite mediums right now and nothing says posh like clear acrylic invitations or clear acrylic chairs. Check out our earlier post for tons of ways to add acrylic details into your wedding.
2018 Wedding Floral Trends:
In 2017 large hanging floral installations started to pop up everywhere and honey, these beauties are not going away. Hanging floral installations will be leaping out from the pages of 2017 magazines and into the weddings of 2018 brides.
The Return To Flowers
In 2017, greenery, Pantone’s 2017 Color of the year, dominated everything from the bouquet to centerpieces. But in 2018, we’re going to see the return of flowers dominating, well… the florals. Lavish flower arrangements will reign supreme with large installations, flower backdrops for pictures or the ceremony space, and flowers all over table settings.
Loose Hand-tied Bouquets
Again, this is another 2017 trend that we are going to see in 2018. Loose bouquets filled with lush blooms and draping greenery is a trend that is here to stay. However, in 2018 we will see the addition of more rich hues of burgundy, deep blues, plums, and pinks incorporated into the bride’s bouquet.
