Jane & Kyle
June 24, 2017
Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Hello lovelies, today we have a classic wedding from Eleanor Kathryn Photography that will inspire all my lace loving brides with so many pretty ideas. With the idea of an elegant and romantic wedding in her head, our bride, Jane, was determined to find all the right details to make her wedding day perfect. After much deliberation, Jane finally chose her wedding colors to be dusty blue and peach, which were a perfect choice for her summer nuptials. From there Jane worked in elements of gold and lots of lovely white and peach flowers to bring a high-end feel. And did we mention her gorgeous dress?!?! Classic elegance exuded from her sophisticated lace fit and flare dress with a scalloped edge cathedral lace train and delicate lace allusion sleeves. To add even more pretty to her look, Jane dawned beautiful tear dropped crystal earrings and a blue lace garter as her something blue. Jane and Kyle were all about family and choose to honor their families heritage by getting married in the same Irish Catholic church her parents said their I Do’s. Isn’t that the sweetest?! They also had Jane’s grandmother lend her artistic skills on their gorgeous DIY invitations that you have to see! One other special very special member of their family was incorporated into the big day, their sweet dog Rosie. She made an appearance all dressed up in a flower collar to catch a few cute pictures. Keep scrolling to check out more of Jane and Kyle’s gush-worthy nuptials.
From The Couple:
Let’s talk proposal, how did your hubby pop the question?
It was New Year’s Eve 2015 and Kyle’s family and I were on our way to Dallas, Texas for a Cowboys game. The plan was to get a tour of the stadium before the actual game. When we arrived, thousands of people were there getting tours and there were many activities down on the field. While we were in line to get a picture on the star in the center of the field, I couldn’t help but notice how fidgety Kyle was – pacing a little and very quiet. I didn’t think much of it as I knew Kyle had been a Cowboys fan his WHOLE life and this was probably a pivotal moment to get a picture on ‘the star’. Little did I know, he was trying to come up with Plan B as he thought he couldn’t get up the nerve with so many people watching. When we got to the front of the line, Kyle didn’t want to be the first to get his picture taken. Kyle’s dad said, “yes, you go first.” Kyle said “NO, you first!” I thought, what’s the big deal? The photographer handed me the football. As we are walking to the center, I’m trying to hand Kyle the football as I knew he wanted to hold it. But as we situated, Kyle looks at me with an important look in his eye. He says “Jane, I love you more than anything….” I start crying realizing what is happening. Other sweet things were said. Kyle gets down on one knee and I said YES! Everyone is cheering and clapping and they announce it over the loud speaker! Kyle is shaking as he puts on the beautiful ring. An amazing moment that I’ll never forget!
How Did you Personalize your day?
I think we included several personal touches to our wedding. One I am very proud of is our invitations. 100% DIY. My grandma is an artist and I asked her to do some flower sketches and calligraphy wording for each card – accommodations, rsvp, reception, etc. I familiarized myself with Photoshop and put it all together. My grandma also did all the envelope addressing in formal calligraphy – 242 to be exact – go Granny! And I sealed the envelopes by using a wax seal stamp of our last name initial ‘A’.

Did you have any gush-worthy wedding vendors?
What made them amazing? My photographer, hands down! She was so organized, but flexible at the same time. We received so many compliments on her professionalism and skills. All around, the best experience. Also shout-out to Emily at The Flower Shop. She really went above and beyond and was just excited as I was about our wedding flowers. She did so much set up the day of the wedding that took my breath away when I finally was able to see the space.
What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?
There were moments during the day that I truly felt out of my body. The first was walking down the aisle. I can still picture it and how I felt. Turning the corner with my dad, seeing friends and family looking on, the flowers on the pews, the candles burning on the altar, our bridal party with smiles on their faces and my husband waiting for me… It honestly took my breath away. The second moment was walking into the reception. Because of timing and other events at our venue, I wasn’t able to set up any of our reception. It was like walking into a surprise. After all the hard work and planning, walking to the head table and looking out at all of the tables of friends and family, drinking and laughing, the flowers and candles… I thought “We actually did THIS!” At that moment, it really all came together and I felt myself relax.
Do you have any wedding planning advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?
As much as I am a control freak, I really didn’t want to have to worry about any of the details because I wanted my husband and I to be able to focus on enjoying our day. Since I didn’t have a wedding planner, I asked our closest family if they’d mind handling all the nitty-gritty day-of details (i.e., if something needed to be done the day of for the music, food, decor, transporting gifts, or whatever). Whether your wedding is big or small, include or hire some go-to people that can handle the behind the scenes issues. You’d be surprised how many unexpected things come up. I really regret not asking for help the day before the wedding when I was setting up the rehearsal dinner space, finishing up gifts, running back and forth to the church, calling vendors, etc. The weekend should be stress-free!

What is something that you LOVE about married life?
I just LOVE seeing a wedding ring on my husband’s finger! I had this feeling of foundation and stability and peace right away. He’s my best friend and I’ve loved experiencing so many new things together.
